Painting: Materialistic Hope

Materialistic Hope
This painting explored the fundamental definition of hope that most people have nowadays. What pops up to me was a series of materialistic believes. This painting delivers hope in a materialistic aspect alongside with various elements that symbolise different messages, it is painted in a surrealism art style. Skulls sticking out of the tree trunk represents people being slaves of materialistic lifestyle. Other elements such as handbags and mobile phone demonstrates people's desire to own such goods. The trees are painted layers on top of layers. Creating a deep forest, which symbolises how this kind of hope is an infinite belief that is impossible to resist, it will only drive us deeper and deeper into the forest. Another layer of meaning that I have incorporated is animal currently brought up by such materialistic hope. Such as wold skin and crocodile skin that are often being ripped off from animals to produce leather goods.
